The questions that come up most often before we start planning a beach trip.
The best private island resorts tend to have one thing in common: a single property per island, rather than a resort sharing land with anything else. That structure is what makes genuine privacy possible, since there is no other guest list to consider and no shared beach to navigate. We check this directly with each property before recommending it.
For the more remote islands, a trip often starts with a private jet charter into the nearest hub, followed by a seaplane or yacht for the final leg. We coordinate the full chain of transport as one itinerary, so a client is never the one working out connection times between them.
It depends on what the trip is for. The Maldives has the greatest concentration of one-island-one-resort properties and the easiest logistics. The Seychelles offers dramatic granite scenery and strong conservation-led islands. The Caribbean suits shorter flights from the UK and US and works year-round outside hurricane season. Fiji and Indonesia reward longer journeys with more remote, quieter islands. We usually start from the travel dates and flight tolerance, then narrow the region from there.
Twelve months or more for the festive weeks. The best islands hold repeat-guest waitlists for Christmas and New Year, and some release those dates to returning clients before general sale, so early registration of interest matters more than flexibility on budget.
Private island buyouts generally range from $15,000 to over $100,000 per night. The price is heavily dependent on the location, size of the island, and guest capacity, with the festive weeks at the top of that range.
