La Mirande

Set in an old mansion at the foot of the Palais des Papes in the heart of Avignon, La Mirande is steeped in secular history. This timeless refuge offers a dreamy, relaxing and authentic experience in a refines, 18th century-esque décor. The 18th century interior en vogue in the Age of Enlightenment were recreated when, in 1990 La Mirande opened its doors as a hotel-restaurant. This very French house was inspired by the grace of living that, for some, existed before the time of revolutions.

With both a gastronomic restaurant and a chef ’s table, the hotel serves honest, living cuisine with respect for ingredients and humankind; a culinary hymn to land and its biodiversity.  High – End rooms offer classic, country- style décor and original 18th century features. An opulent suite adds chandeliers and plush, antique-style furnishings.

DINING
There is an interesting contrast in dining options: upstairs, Hotel’s gourmet restaurant for a classic, downstairs the old kitchen for an entertaining table d’hote dinner, upstairs, the generous scale if the reception room as well as the terraces and garden with a multitude of settings from breakfast to lunch, form tea time to dinner, downstairs, a social event, where meal prepared by Michelin Chef on the wood fired oven.

COOKING CLASS
Guests can take cooking classes in the nineteenth-century basement kitchen with a wood-fired stove, followed by a tasting menu and wines chosen by the sommelier. The glass-covered patio offers a buffet of homemade pastries and international teas every afternoon, including madeleines and chocolate fondants.
